Our promise to UK landowners
ofp-ecology is a platform built for ecology consultants. We aggregate information that UK government departments and registers have already published — about land, payments, schemes, ownership and corporate structure — to help consultants identify opportunities for habitat restoration, stewardship and Biodiversity Net Gain. We do this because we believe better data leads to better outcomes for the countryside, for nature, and for the people who farm it.
We want to be straightforward about what that means for you.
We do not buy or scrape private data.
Every record we hold has been published by HM Land Registry, Defra, the Rural Payments Agency, Companies House, the Charity Commission, the Environment Agency, Natural England, the Forestry Commission, or Historic England — under the UK Open Government Licence or equivalent terms.
We do not sell raw data.
Our customers see a profile inside our platform, under a contract that prohibits onward sale and direct mail-merge marketing.
We do not resolve hidden addresses.
Where a landowner is identifiable only by a partial postcode, we leave it that way. We do not run fuzzy-match address resolution against any external register — not Codepoint, not the electoral roll, not any commercial address-search service.
We do not infer sensitive characteristics.
We do not infer religion, political opinion, trade union membership, or health. We do not surface criminal-offence data.
You can see what we hold, correct it, object to it, or have it removed.
Use the form at /privacy/dsr — we respond within 28 days. If you tell us you are at risk of harm, we suppress your record first and review the request after. No proof of harm required.
If we ever fail to meet this promise
The Information Commissioner's Office is the right place to complain: ico.org.uk.
